Boy's Tournament Rules
Overarching Rules

Use of an illegal cross carries a 1 minute non-releasable penalty (running clock)

Penalties will be enforced by man-up and man-down

Face-offs

All players that are facing off must:
-
1. be in a standing position (no knee down)
-
2. use a neutral grip (no motorcycle grip)

3. attempt to play the ball at the whistle (not body check)

Stalling rules will follow NFHS rules with one exception:

Stalling rules during the last 2 minutes of game will be administered when games have a 2 goal or less differential.

If a team forfeits a game, the score will be 6-0
-
All age groups can substitute on the fly

Mercy rule: At any point during the game when there is a six-goal lead, the trailing team will be given the ball at the midfield line in lieu of a faceoff as long as the six goal lead is maintained, unless waived by the coach of the trailing team.

There will be two 22 minute running halves

3 minute halftime

Penalties are 20 & 40 seconds stop clock

Clock will stop in final 2 minutes for injuries and penalty assessments only

In case of a tie, a 4-minute sudden death period will be played.

Teams are allowed one 30 second timeout - stop clock

If still tied at the end of the four-minute sudden death; the overtime will go into a 4v3 fast-break format. Each team will run the fast-break from the midfield line against the other teams defensive end. The defense and attack units stay on the field while the fast-break is run from the midfield. The ball is considered dead and the fast-break opportunity is over when the ball hits the ground. A coin-flip will decide which team goes first. The teams will alternate turns until either the following occurs: 1) Both teams get an attempt and if one team scores and the other team does not score, then it is over. 2) If both teams score on the first attempt or both teams don't score, then it continues for best of out three 3) If after 3 attempts the teams are tied, then it will be decided by a coin flip.
